About Our Parish

A community of faith rooted in Anglican tradition, committed to worship, fellowship, and service.

Our Story

A Heritage of Faith Since 1841

Christ Church Aylmer has been a cornerstone of spiritual life in Aylmer, Quebec for over 180 years. Founded in 1843, our parish has witnessed generations of families come together in worship, celebration, and community.

Our historic stone church building, constructed in the Gothic Revival style, stands as a testament to the enduring faith of those who came before us. Its beautiful stained glass windows, carved woodwork, and peaceful sanctuary continue to inspire worshippers today.

Through the years, Christ Church has adapted to serve the changing needs of our community while remaining grounded in the rich traditions of Anglican worship. We honor our heritage even as we look forward to the future with hope and purpose.

Our Purpose

Mission & Vision

"We are called to be a community of faith that welcomes all people, nurtures spiritual growth, and serves others in the name of Christ."

Our mission is to share God's love through meaningful worship, compassionate outreach, and genuine fellowship. We strive to create a space where everyone can explore faith, find community, and experience the transforming grace of God.

We believe that the church exists not for itself, but to serve the world. Through our ministries and partnerships, we seek to make a positive difference in our community and beyond.

Our Tradition

The Anglican Tradition

Christ Church Aylmer is a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, part of the Anglican Church of Canada. The Anglican Church is a worldwide Christian communion with roots in the Church of England, combining Catholic and Protestant traditions in worship and theology.

Anglican worship is characterized by:

  • The Book of Common Prayer and Book of Alternative Services
  • The celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Communion)
  • A rich tradition of hymnody and choral music
  • The observance of the liturgical calendar
  • An emphasis on scripture, tradition, and reason

As Anglicans, we believe in a God of love who welcomes all people. We embrace diversity and encourage questions as part of the faith journey. Whether you're familiar with Anglican worship or experiencing it for the first time, you'll find that our services balance the reverent and the accessible.
